A temperature monitoring system for your business provided by MWI
Project Summary
Metropolitan Wireless International (MWI), an IT software company in Singapore, provides end-to-end IoT solutions to help companies meet compliance and improve productivity. One of the common pain points for businesses is temperature monitoring to meet compliance standards and prevent equipment failure. To address this, MWI deployed a LoRaWAN-based temperature monitoring system using RAK WisGate Edge gateways, providing affordable quality, ease of deployment, and technical support.
Company Profile
Metropolitan Wireless International specializes in providing IoT solutions to improve business-critical operations. MWI’s focus is B2B clients, offering hardware, software, and calibration services. The company's mission is to do more with less and provide a one-stop solution for businesses to improve critical operations. MWI primarily focuses on helping companies meet compliance and regulatory requirements while also improving productivity and profits. The company took interest in IoT as IoT is becoming a solution to more and more business problems while utilizing more technology and lesser resources.
The Challenge
One of the most common pain points the company comes across is the need to meet regulations. Most businesses are regulated by compliance organizations, and temperature monitoring is a common requirement as part of these compliance standards. Companies no longer want to rely on manual logging of temperature with pen and paper, hence they turn to technology.
Another common pain point is the absence of alerts when equipment fails. Companies that have felt the pain of damaging or losing assets due to equipment failure would consult us for a monitoring system that can trigger alert notifications to end users remotely in case of equipment failure.
To address these challenges, MWI needed an IoT solution that could remotely provide real-time temperature monitoring and alert notifications to end-users.

The Solution
MWI chose LoRaWAN as the technology for its IoT solution, after researching and testing several technologies, including BLE and 433 MHz. LoRaWAN showed the best performance and was a good combination with the devices the company decided to use for the solution.
MWI is using the RAK7268V2 LoRaWAN gateway for the IoT gateway in this equation. They decided to adopt the solution schematic above as it is versatile and easy to deploy. This allows for the support of multiple industries with the same solution, with minor tweaks in the hardware provided. Healthcare, hospitality, and food services are the main industries that can benefit from such a solution.
A system that is designed to monitor the temperature of various applications such as cold rooms, freezers, refrigerators, and other temperature-sensitive environments in various industries. The temperature monitoring system consists of wireless sensors that can be placed in the area that is to be monitored, a central unit that receives and analyzes the data from the sensors, and a visualization platform. The system can be set up to send alerts and notifications if the temperature goes out of the predetermined range, allowing for quick action to be taken to prevent damage to sensitive products.
The product is primarily designed to help companies meet compliance, meaning government laws and regulations. Nonetheless, it can also improve productivity output for business operations, increasing profits for the client.
MWI goes all the way in providing the service that the client needs from on-site deployment to providing a personalized dashboard and available maintenance service.
Outcome
MWI has deployed the LoRaWAN-based temperature monitoring system across multiple customers in different sectors, including healthcare, hospitality, and food services. The system provides real-time temperature monitoring and alert notifications, enabling businesses to meet compliance requirements and prevent equipment failure. WisGate Edge has provided MWI with competitive pricing, ease of deployment, and technical support, helping the company grow its customer base and expand its offerings. The project has been successfully deployed in Singapore, and MWI has many leads in the pipeline that will eventually become its customers.
